Kriya Yoga isn’t only a practice; it’s also a quiet inner journey that is rooted in ancient wisdom and brought back for the modern world. It offers a step-by-step method from breath to awareness, and each technique is created to bring you closer to your truest self.
Kriya Yoga California
Kriya Yoga is an ancient meditation and breath-based yoga practice that helps calm the mind and connect with your higher self. Its roots date back to 1861, when a Himalayan yogi known as Mahavatar Babaji passed on the kriya yoga tradition to disciple Lahiri Mahasaya.
After that, it flowed through a destined guru-disciple relationship and sacred line of yoga masters, including Swami Sri Yukteswar and Paramahansa Yogananda, who brought Kriya Yoga to the West in 1920.
His famous book, Autobiography of a Yogi (1946), opened the door for people all over the world to figure out this life-changing path. It is a combination of breath, focus, and devotion because Kriya Yoga isn’t just a technique, but a way to experience peace, purpose, and the divine within.
Kriya yoga early teachings, passed down and faithfully guided by direct disciples of Swami Yogananda, have continued to inspire sincere seekers on their journey toward inner peace, a sure path, and planetary evolution.
Today, Kriya Yoga is guiding people toward calmness, clarity, and a rooted connection to themselves and the universe.

Ananda

About –
Ananda Palo Alto is a spiritual center and a living expression of a dream that started years ago. Swami Kriyananda was a close disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda, the author of Autobiography of a Yogi, and he was inspired by Yogananda’s vision of simple living, high thinking, and spiritual community. Kriyananda founded the first Ananda Village in 1968 near Nevada City, California.
His goal was to create a space where people could live with purpose, meditate deeply, unfold spiritual realization, and support each other on their spiritual paths, not just in temples, but in everyday life. The place was built to show that it’s possible to live in balance, follow spiritual practices, and still be part of the modern world.
It’s a warm and welcoming place where yoga, meditation, and joyful service come together to help people connect with their inner peace and live with more love, clarity, and meaning.

Center for Spiritual Enlightenment

About –
The Center for Spiritual Enlightenment in San Jose began with a single message: “Stop struggling and start living.” In 1981, Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian started offering Sunday meditation and interfaith services in a small hall with a mission – that even helping one soul matters. It’s inspired by the precious teachings of Kriya Yoga and the wisdom of Paramahansa Yogananda, who wanted to create a space where people could experience meditation, connect with their inner self, and grow in the right spiritual direction, without needing to belong to a particular religion.
As the community grew, in 1998, CSE moved to its current home with completely peaceful meditation gardens, a temple, and spaces for yoga, classes, and quiet reflection.
