Family Wellness Studio is a cozy yoga corner where families come to move, breathe, laugh, and grow together. The soul behind establishing this beautiful space is Leah Turano, a mom of three, licensed therapist, and former chef who knows the art of nurturing, both in the kitchen and in life.

Leah realized it was hard for families to find a space where kids and parents could truly connect, slow down, and care for both their bodies and minds. So, she created a wellness studio herself.

It was opened around 2021–2022 and quickly became a warm gathering place for the community. They offer everything from California family fitness yoga classes and music classes to mindfulness sessions and parenting support, all created to bring people closer and help them feel more grounded, supported, and seen. 

The Family Wellness Studio is a space built from love, lived experience, and a belief that wellness is something we can do together!

The studio was founded by Cici Bo, a loving mom, yoga teacher, and former dancer who carries a passion for healing and connection. Her journey started in the lush landscapes of Bali, where she taught yoga at a children’s orphanage near Ubud. That experience sparked a light in her, as she noticed that yoga could bring joy, calm, and togetherness, especially when shared with kids and families.

Two Hearts Yoga opened its doors in 2008, created especially for moms during pregnancy and early motherhood. It was founded by Georgina O’Farrill, a yoga lover who wanted a warm and safe spot where women could care for their bodies and minds while welcoming the baby.

The studio was built to support moms through gentle movement and breathing exercises. It quickly became a community space by adding helpful services like chiropractic care, doula support, and special classes like Aqua Mamas — gentle water workouts in a warm pool.

About – 

One Down Dog began with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of love in 2013 by Jessica Rosen, a yoga teacher with a background in counseling. She came to LA searching for a yoga studio that felt real. Not too polished, not too perfect – just a place where people could move, breathe, laugh, and feel at home. 

When she couldn’t find one, she built it. With support from her friends, she started teaching classes in a shared space. A year later, One Down Dog found its own home, and from there it just kept growing. The name came from a phrase Jessica often said in class: “Just take it one down dog at a time” as a reminder to stay grounded and take life one moment at a time. 

With thousands of classes, teacher trainings, and a tight-knit community, it’s more than just a yoga studio; it’s also a place where you show up exactly as you are, and that’s more than enough.

Yama Kids Yoga was started with a simple idea that kids need yoga too! It all began back in 2009 when Beth Houghton, a mom and former filmmaker, was asked by parents at her daughter’s school if she could teach yoga to their kids. So, Beth began teaching a few small classes under the name Bendy Berry Yoga and received an amazing response.

As more and more children joined in, Beth saw how much yoga helped them feel calm, strong, and focused. With the support of her friend and co-teacher, Iman, she took a big step and opened Yama Kids Yoga, the first yoga studio made just for kids. The name “Yama” comes from five gentle values from yoga philosophy, that is, kindness and honesty, which are present in every class of the studio.

Since then, Yama Kids Yoga has grown into a joyful space where kids from ages 2 to 18 come to stretch, breathe, play, and just be themselves!

About – 

The People’s Yoga was started by two inspiring women, Leah Rose Gallegos and Lauren Quan-Madrid, who shared a mutual love for yoga. Back in 2012, they noticed that yoga was growing in popularity, but it wasn’t reaching everyone, especially not the neighborhoods they called home. So, they decided to take yoga directly to those people!

They began offering donation-based classes in parks, art galleries, and community spaces. The response was warm and powerful. Families showed up. Elders joined in. Slowly, yoga was no longer something far away; now it was something local, welcoming, and real.

In 2014, the first and only yoga studio in East Los Angeles – The People’s Yoga was born. It became a safe and healing space for people of all ages and backgrounds to move, breathe, and grow together.
