Beer Yoga is exactly what it sounds like: doing yoga while sipping beer. It’s a combination of classic yoga poses with a cold bottle of beer in a relaxed, social vibe. The idea is to have fun, stay present, and sip your beer while holding your Warrior II

Beer Yoga became popular when Jhula, founder of Bier Yoga, a Berlin-based company, took inspiration after watching people sip beer and do yoga at the Burning Man Festival. They decided to make it a thing!

Why was Beer Yoga created?

Since yoga is termed as a serious chore to do, the goal was to make it approachable and lighthearted. Emily and Jhula wanted to break down the intimidating yoga vibe and turn it into fun and laughter. They wanted to make it all about mindfulness, movement, and fun.

Beer Yoga Features :

  • Yoga doesn’t have to be serious and silent.
  • Beer Yoga is stretching and sipping beer together.
  • It’s enjoying yoga with body twists and beer toasts.

Why Should You Try Beer Yoga?

  1. Enjoy! No Pressure – There is no pressure; the atmosphere is relaxed. No one judges you or your pose or your choice of beer.
  2. A Proper Breather – Sipping beer helps you relax mentally and physically to do yoga efficiently.
  3. Connections – Beer yoga classes are like mini hangouts. You get to meet different people and build good connections.
  4. Relieve Stress – The class is all about stretching your body, laughing a little, and sipping your favorite brew. What else would you ever wish for?
  5. A Unique Concept – Life is about experiencing, so why not try new things that are not too serious, but a pinch of fun and twists?

What is Beer Fit Club?

What-is-Beer-Fit-Club

Who knew there would be beer clubs for fitness? Well, here it is! The Beer Fit Club is a woman-led company by Sophia Del Gigante that mingles her two passions – beer and fitness.

Her personal journey began when she attended a beer yoga event and fell in love with the concept. She decided to share her joy with others as well. The mission is to turn fitness into fun so that no one gets SCARED at the thought of starting a fitness routine.

Yes, seriously!

Beer Fit Club Open Secrets –

  • Since they aim to make fitness fun and approachable in a community, they don’t sip beer after the class. Rather, they include beer drinking during the yoga practice and after too.
  • The beer fit yoga NYC club focuses on charity by hosting different events where the class proceeds are donated to a greater cause.
  • They host an Ugly Sweater Beer + Yoga event every December where the cost proceeds are donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
  • Beer Fit Club values community and passion by creating good opportunities for everyone.

Difference Between Drunk Yoga and Beer Yoga?

Beer yoga involves a casual sip before, during, or after the yoga sessions. It is conducted in breweries or taprooms.

Whereas, Drunk Yoga is a choreographed wine-in-hand experience created by Eli Walker. It is conducted in yoga studios and open setups for fun, connection, laughter, and good vibes.

Both types are fun to do and involve drinks! But the energy and setup are completely different.

Is Beer Yoga Real?

Yes, it sure is! You will breathe, stretch, move, and enjoy a present state of mind like in a traditional yoga class. The game changer is Beer! It helps people who don’t step into a yoga studio to feel welcomed when the beer is on. It makes it fun, joyful, and less intimidating for them.

Who Can Do Beer Yoga?

ANYONE!! Whether you are an experienced yoga practitioner, a beginner who can’t touch your toes, or reach your back to scratch, it is for you. These are open-level classes where the yoga instructors keep the atmosphere light and playful.

Note: It’s not essential to drink beer. Even non-drinkers can join beer yoga classes as the event provides non-alcoholic options and kombucha as well.

Conclusion

Beer yoga is not only stretching with a beer in hand—it’s laughter, connection, and a break from the usual yoga styles. Whether you’re a yoga lover, a beer fan, or just someone looking to have a good time, this funky combo is a must-try. You will feel lighthearted, welcoming, and have plain fun.

So why not pick up your mat, look for a beer and yoga NYC event, and give it a shot? You never know when you’ll find your new favorite way to unwind.

Give yourself a breather because you deserve it!
