The Seven Chakra Colors & their Significance

Chakra Colors

You may already know about the seven main chakras in our bodies and their roles in maintaining our health and well-being. In this article, we will learn the meaning behind each of the seven colors.

Introduction

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel in English. They are energy centres aligned along your spine, from your tailbone at the base to the top of your head, connecting your mind, body, and spirit as one unitary being.

The chakras represent different organs in your body, such as the heart or throat, but also levels within each specific emotion/emotional state.

The chakra system is not a new concept. It has been around for thousands of years. From ancient times it was used as an architectural concept in the design of temples. The areas in the temple were designed to correspond with the seven chakras. For example, a particular emotion could be felt more intensely in a particular area to correspond with its corresponding chakra. This will help meditators achieve greater clarity on their spiritual journey.

The seven colors are represented within the body, each corresponding to different parts of your psyche (or soul). Understanding the chakra colors and their corresponding energies is important to mindfulness.

Each Chakra Colors

The seven chakra colors correspond with the colors of the rainbow, as can be seen below:

  1. Root Chakra, represented by the color Red
  2. Sacral Chakra, represented by the color Orange
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra, represented by the color Yellow
  4. Heart Chakra, represented by the color Green
  5. Throat Chakra, represented by the color Blue
  6. Third Eye Chakra, represented by the color Indigo
  7. Crown Chakra, represented by the color Violet

The colors of the seven main chakras forming the spectrum of the rainbow give an amazing pattern when put in their natural order.

This particular color arrangement, which has been observed for centuries by various cultures around the world, including our own, hold a special significance and is called The Spectrum Of White Light (or Visible). It ranges from 700 nm – 400 nm with Red being the longest and Violet the shortest.

Orange is the color of creativity and success and is associated with joy and ecstasy. It is both exciting and soothing, combining Red’s physical energy with Yellow’s joy and happiness. Orange represents optimism and freedom and is also associated with enthusiasm, warmth, excitement, and adventure.

Orange also represents self-expression and emotional balance or stability – all of which make up your identity in society. The orange hues represent this energetic centre because they are vibrant without being too intense.

The color Yellow is the color of sunshine and is located above your navel. It is a constant source of power, where self-confidence manifests itself in all aspects: mental clarity as well as physical strength to take on whatever life throws at you! The strong sense through which this energy shines brings out light upon what it means “to be myself” – not just recognise my uniqueness but also embrace every aspect thereof without fear or worry.

It also represents abundance, healing and growth. It has properties of self-healing and helps us heal ourselves from our past hurts to give us a chance to start afresh and have a more wholesome future. Indigo is the color of intuition and perception and helps access the subconscious mind. It stimulates the imagination and promotes deep concentration during meditation. It helps you see, both on the physical and intuitive levels, and it is the color that encourages reflection and self-awareness.

The Crown Chakra

The color Violet is said to have the highest vibrational frequency of all the colors in the spectrum. Violet is considered a spiritual color and is often associated with reflection and self-awareness. Those with an aura of Violet are often curious and engaged in finding answers to life’s problems.
