You may already know about the seven main chakras in our bodies and their roles in maintaining our health and well-being. In this article, we will learn the meaning behind each of the seven colors.
Introduction
Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel in English. They are energy centres aligned along your spine, from your tailbone at the base to the top of your head, connecting your mind, body, and spirit as one unitary being.
The chakras represent different organs in your body, such as the heart or throat, but also levels within each specific emotion/emotional state.
The chakra system is not a new concept. It has been around for thousands of years. From ancient times it was used as an architectural concept in the design of temples. The areas in the temple were designed to correspond with the seven chakras. For example, a particular emotion could be felt more intensely in a particular area to correspond with its corresponding chakra. This will help meditators achieve greater clarity on their spiritual journey.
The seven colors are represented within the body, each corresponding to different parts of your psyche (or soul). Understanding the chakra colors and their corresponding energies is important to mindfulness.
Each Chakra Colors
The seven chakra colors correspond with the colors of the rainbow, as can be seen below:
- Root Chakra, represented by the color Red
- Sacral Chakra, represented by the color Orange
- Solar Plexus Chakra, represented by the color Yellow
- Heart Chakra, represented by the color Green
- Throat Chakra, represented by the color Blue
- Third Eye Chakra, represented by the color Indigo
- Crown Chakra, represented by the color Violet
The colors of the seven main chakras forming the spectrum of the rainbow give an amazing pattern when put in their natural order.
This particular color arrangement, which has been observed for centuries by various cultures around the world, including our own, hold a special significance and is called The Spectrum Of White Light (or Visible). It ranges from 700 nm – 400 nm with Red being the longest and Violet the shortest.
