Online Yoga School Programs

Are you looking for the Best Online Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2024? Since the pandemic, online yoga teacher training has provided students with the tools they need to evaluate their values and align their intentions to manifest their deepest desires.

Even though the environment has become normal as before, Online Yoga Teacher Training is still the best option due to expensive air travel, the time required to do onsite YTT, flexibility, and lastly, Yoga Alliance is recognizing online yoga certification Permanently (originally it was till 31st December 2023). Then why not do an online yoga teacher certification until it’s available?

We are going to dive deep and go through the top 10 online yoga teacher training certification courses. You’ll learn about the benefits and highlights of each course, and we also cover what it takes to become a certified yoga instructor.

With many accepting virtual classrooms as the preferred learning medium, now is the right time to get your online certification.

These online certifications are recognized and valid globally. All of the online teacher courses that we feature are Yoga Alliance certified.

Before the pandemic, the most popular course was the 200-hour in-person certification, now available as Online YTT.

So which Yoga Instructor Training is the Best?

If you want to teach yoga in the US or anywhere in the world – you can enroll in a yoga certification program typically called a YTT 200.

You should know that you don’t need a Yoga Alliance certification to teach yoga, but it might help you with that extra confidence boost.

Many yoga studios offer online programs, making choosing a Yoga Teacher Training course more challenging and somewhat overwhelming.

Students report many great experiences while taking their YTT, even in an online environment – where they still get a sense of community as they spend many hours with other online students.

One of the biggest benefits is that you learn how to lead a yoga class from a teacher’s perspective and perform poses safely, aligned with yogi principles.

Let’s get started to help you find the Best Yoga Teacher Trainings (YTTs) at the best price.

We focus on online trainings and encourage you to check out all courses and visit their websites to see which program is right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

First, let’s start by telling you some important criteria for selecting the right yoga certification online.

Investing in yourself is important. By selecting the right YTT, you can ensure your investment will pay off, and you fall in love with yoga all over again.

Follow our tested criteria to select the training program that’s right for you.

Everyone has their own needs and preferences. That’s why we kept the criteria adaptable to your situation. Keep the following things in mind while selecting a program:

how to become a yoga instructor online

Will I Get Certified With Online Training?

Once you’ve completed the training modules, you’ll be a certified yoga teacher (YTT 200) through Yoga Alliance. This is an international certification, so you can teach anywhere in the world.

Is Online Training worth it, and should I do it?

Online yoga teacher training is a safe way to get your YTT certification. The bonus is that comparatively, it costs much less than it normally would.

Good teacher training modules with videos have made it possible to get the abundance of knowledge and insights you need. You’ll have the opportunity to learn at your own pace, with full support and opportunities to connect with yoga masters through live sessions.

There is no better time to bring yoga teacher training into your living room. Online yoga education and communication quality have improved significantly over time.

No doubt you’ll be missing the live adjustments from a teacher, but you might still form valuable friendships during your training. If you are disciplined, you can get world-class yoga training that works around your schedule and at a relatively much lower cost.

How much does online YTT Cost?

Siddhi Yoga Online Yoga Teacher Training courses start from $350.00 USD. This compares to in-person programs, where you can expect the cost to be between $1000 to $2000.

If you are looking for a program that is less than $500 with full flexibility, selecting a mix of Pre-Recorded videos and Live sessions is the way to go.

The best way is to look at the testimonials from the students, so it helps you make an informed decision.

Do I need to register with YA to teach Yoga?

You don’t have to register, but it’s recommended if you’re looking to teach (it’s paid, though). You will be part of a worldwide directory, increasing your visibility. At Siddhi Yoga, we have our yoga teachers directory where you can register for free and get good visibility.

What are the Yoga Instructor Certificate Requirements?

  • Online programs are required to have a blend of synchronous and asynchronous teaching (real-time interaction).
  • Learning takes place according to the student’s pace.
  • At least 50% of the total hours must be taught by the lead trainer (LT), regardless of format.
  • Lead Trainer Maximum: A maximum of 5 LT per training.
  • Competency assessment: Must clearly describe methods of testing trainees’ competency in synchronous and asynchronous spaces.

At Siddhi Yoga, when we started offering yog

a alliance certified yoga teacher training courses back in 2013, we didn’t think it would also turn into Online Training. Online is now considered the best resource for those who have dreamt of becoming a yoga teacher.

Before the pandemic, getting YTT certification Online through Yoga Alliance wasn’t possible.

Now you can get the same Yoga Alliance Certification with your Online YTT, which you would have otherwise received doing in-person training.

Everything remains the same, including the teacher certificate.

What are our credentials? At Siddhi Yoga, we have trained more than 2000 graduates from 90+ countries in the last 8+ years.

We are not a regular yoga studio running normal classes and started something just because of Online Yoga Teacher Training demand. We understand the needs and what it takes to become the best yoga teacher.

Is the Yoga School registered with YA USA?

First, you don’t need any yoga certification to teach yoga. Secondly, Yoga Alliance is not a Certification body but an online registry of yoga teachers. A Yoga School always issues the certificate.

However, Yoga Alliance has created minimum standards that registered schools must follow. Each school’s Yoga Teacher Program must be registered with and approved by Yoga Alliance.

Even though certification is not legally required, it’s good to have certification in the yoga industry.

If you’re hoping to run your own studio, certification may be important for students to trust your abilities. Some people are going to ask for credentials, and the Yoga Alliance Certification shows you have received the necessary training to teach.

Most of the yoga studios accept a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate.

How old are the yoga school and its program?

Some schools were running their normal yoga classes, and when the demand for online yoga teacher training increased, they started their program.

As they are teaching their “Yoga Teacher Training Program” for the first time, chances are quite high that they don’t know the requirements and the program is not structured properly. The more students who have graduated and the older the school, the better the program will likely be.

What subjects are covered, and in what detail?

All the Yoga Alliance Registered Schools must have asana, philosophy, anatomy and physiology, pranayama, and meditation. However, every school covers it differently. Not every human is the same, and their body types are different.

Universal alignment of asana doesn’t work on everyone. The Program must cover all possible alignments of each asana.

The Program should cover 8 Limbs of Yoga, Mudras, Mantras, Different Types of Breathing, Different Types of Yoga, all the major Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, and Chakras.

Anatomy and Physiology should cover Respiratory System, Skeletal System, Muscular System, Digestive System, Cardiovascular System, and Endocrine System.

Beyond all of these, there must be enough practice sessions for you to practice.

Is it 100% Live or a mix of pre-recorded videos and Live?

You should ask yourself if you would like a 100% Live program where all the classes are being taught Live via Zoom or a similar program.

Normally this type of Program runs for over ten weeks at set times. You must be very disciplined and available for ten weeks during this time.

Time zone is another issue. If it’s not in your time zone, you will have a lot of challenges.

Some Live trainings have 20-40 people attending at the same time. So ask yourself, can a teacher pay full attention to every individual?

You will be paying over $1500, attending the training at fixed times for ten weeks, and not getting any specific attention. The recording is also of lower quality as Zoom only has 640×320 video quality recordings.

We have found that a mix of Pre-Recorded videos and Live sessions have more flexibility.

Pre-recorded videos are HD quality, and you can watch them as often as you wish.

Attend the Live sessions as per your time zone and schedule. There are options to ask questions in the community and on Facebook.

Lastly, the bigger benefit is paying a fraction of the cost ($397).

Who are the teachers, and their experiences? Multiple instructors are better!

There are programs run by a single instructor. A good program should have a minimum of 2-3 teachers with expertise in the subject. Remember to check the years of experience the teachers have as well.

We at Siddhi Yoga have this part fully covered.

Do I need an authentic yoga program from India?

If you are looking for an authentic insight into yogic thought and traditions, you should select a program with Indian teachers.

Note that English is not their first language, but they can provide you with the most authentic yoga knowledge (best part is – as per our earlier students, you’ll clearly understand what they are saying, and they’ll understand what you ask).

Western teachers can communicate well in English, but they most likely have learned from an Indian teacher. Yoga’s birthplace is India.

If you’re looking for authentic yogic teachings from the source, you will certainly get more from an Indian teacher and their knowledge.

Should I be doing Vinyasa OR Hatha OR Ashtanga OR Multi Style?

Some programs cover only a single yoga style. If you are clear about the style you wish to follow, select the program with that particular Yoga style.

If you wish to be holistic and learn more than one Yoga style, the Multi-Style Program is recommended.

Do you need Subtitles?

If you select a mix of Pre-Recorded and Live programs, you should check if you need Sub-Titles on the Pre-Recorded videos. You may need to opt for subtitles due to the accent of the teachers.

Our training videos have subtitles (in English, Spanish, and Italian); you’ll need to click on CC to enable them.

Lastly, before signing up for online training, check if the school has a trial period and handle refunds.
