Why I Teach
I believe that teaching is a continuous journey of the learning process. Teaching reminds me of my duty to pass what my guru has given me on to my students. The wisdom of my guru that comes forth in my teaching reminds me to deepen my practice not just in asana, but in everyday life. Some wish to be the best teacher in this lifetime, but I wish to be the best student I can be. My desire to learn is what makes my teaching meaningful.
Shyama’s yoga journey started at a very early age. By now she has an experience of over two decades in practicing and teaching yoga in India and Dubai. Along the way she completed her Master of Science, majoring in Science of Living(Preksha Meditation & Yoga). As a firm believer of continuous learning she also completed her E-RYT 500 from Yoga Alliance USA, Advanced Diploma in Yoga Education with Kaivalyadham and various other certifications like Stott Pilates, Swing Yoga and Chair for Yoga.
Decades of practice and over 1000 hours of teaching experience allow Shyama to teach with thoughtful sequencing and good humour. Her classes are fun and challenging as they combine technical understanding of yoga with plain language, humour and compassion. Shyama firmly believes that there is a yoga to fit everyone. An intuitive communicator, she connects with each student, hoping to foster in them a desire to explore their own unique practice through breath and movement. Her profound classes can be used as a tool to achieve sustained long lasting happiness.
