Ritesh Patel

Mumbai, India

Ritesh is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys cycling, marathon running, and various other outdoor activities. Initially a graphic designer, he quit his job to focus on teaching yoga. Ritesh is a multi-talented individual whose spiritual journey started off in 1994 through the art of Karate. Eight years later, he attained a black belt from the Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-do Federation of India under the guidance of Sensei Chandrakant Ruparelia and Santosh B. Singh.

In 2003, he graduated from the Kaivalyadham Yoga Centre with a Post Graduation Diploma in Yoga Education (P.G.D.Y. Ed). He is well versed in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Hatha yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita, as well as Anatomy of the Human Body, Pranayama, Asana, meditation and Shatkriya.

To further his yogic studies, Ritesh did a Thai Yoga Bodywork course under the guidance of Prabhat Menon from The Sunshine Network, New Zealand in 2005, which is a traditional Thai yoga massage technique. This Ayurvedic technique combines the principles of energy balancing, stretching, acupressure and yoga exercises to make it a powerful massage therapy.

Ritesh completed a Level One Yoga Teacher Training under the guidance of Swami Veda Bharati from the Himalayan Yoga Tradition in 2011, and in June 2014, obtained a Stott Pilates Certificate, which allows him to teach pilates for personal and group training. Stott Pilates is similar to yoga, with the exception that the former also incorporates the use of resistance equipment.

Ritesh completed a 200-hour Multi Style Yoga course with Siddhi Yoga in 2015 under the guidance of Deep, in which he was trained in the style of Vinyasa Flow and Hatha Yoga.

Yoga Style: Hatha Yoga as that’s the original and the authentic one and later on got modified into Vinyasa for a nice cardio workout, and I love both for day where you wish relax and rejuvenate nothing like Hatha Yoga and for a day where you feel energetic and powerful nothing beats vinyasa. So a Combination of both works great.

Programs I teach at Siddhi Yoga: TTC 200 Hours. Hatha Yoga as that’s the core of Yoga & Philosophy is something that every teacher should know about it. Else the pure essence of Yoga itself is lost, If not philosophy is understood yoga would only be on the physical….. the mechanical… philosophy adds a awareness and connection to the self. So a little bit of knowledge regarding Hathayoga pradipika, Gherand Samhita as well as Patanjali yoga sutra is a must.

Favorite yoga pose: Scorpion Pose as  challenges me and  the same time how relax can I be in the asana, It’s a lovely pose, Good control and stability is what it requires at the same time relaxing yourself.

My favorite place in the world: Europe:  As a cyclist I am always love Europe for its Tour de France as well as the Eurovelo routes in Europe where its more than 50000 kilometere of cycling route where you can camp and enjoy Europe. So yes someday I would.

yoga teacher training review by Shona from United Kingdom

I So enjoy your informal, relaxed approach. I love that you keep reminding us to challenge ourselves – but to “listen to your body”. And i particularly love your reminding me to smile and enjoy, feel the sensations as we go into the poses. Helping to suggest modification when as asana proves too much, and having the confidence to help us adjust in positions would be welcome. You bring a warmth to all your teaching – your passion is infectious. Don’t ever lost that..

yoga teacher training review by Jodie from United Kingdom

Thank you for the time you have devoted to helping us improve our asanas. You bring a joy to your classes through your warmth and ever present simile. Your classes in particular the first few days were lovely calm and soothing practices, with warming deep stretches building to more advanced postures, which I enjoyed very much. Confidence is key and whenever you are feeling confident your classes have a beautiful deep meditative flow.

Thank you, Namaste my friend.

yoga teacher training review by Rosaia from Italy

Thank you for your teachings, I loved the invitation to relax, listen to the body and connect with the nature around. I love the soothing voice and the pacing. It made me feel relax yet powerful and present during the class. Your reminder to realize “Ahimsa” during Asanas through a compassionate, loving attitude, to enjoy the process and every moment of the class were very valuable to me. You showed me how a class can be relaxed and enjoyable while being powerful. Your attention to details like: relax your forehead, don’t allow any stress to pervade your body and create a gentle smile at all times. was very useful.

Thank you and continue.

Enjoy your path of yoga and bringing a smile on the face of students.

yoga teacher training review by Geetanjali from USA

From the very first class you taught us. I have find you teaching very soothing, relaxing and profound. Even the very difficult poses you make very calming, so we relax into poses rather them forcing the body. Be yourself always. Take care.

yoga teacher training review by Sofus from Danmark

Its been a great experience to have you as a teacher ! The core of your spirit is true yoga and it comes strongly into expression in your classes. You bring light and humbleness to all of us. You promote inner peace and spiritual welfare to your students and dispels ego centrism and competition.

You are honest with yourself and teach what you know, and never give an impressing of conveying knowledge that you are not yet practicing yourself. I have full confidence in your success, and it is wonderful to see how you also have alone yourself to be transformed by these beautiful spiritual teachings. This can only happen when free of ignorance. Keep being positive and show a great example of transformation to your closes ones.

With all the love and purity of my heart and soul.

yoga teacher training review by Katie from United States

I cannot put into words how grateful I am for everything you have taught us; I will never forget how you have told us to always enjoy and love our asana no matter what it looks like on the outside because, truly, what is important is how it feels on the inside. This love & enjoyment was something that had been lacking in my practice because I always wanted to push myself in the postures I was doing. This was something I will carry through my whole life.
