Well known for her teachings worldwide, Dr. Amrita has trained thousands of aspiring yoga teachers in different parts of the world. She delivers lectures and seminars on various topics such as Ayurveda, naturopathy, stress management, chakra healing, yoga and meditation, as well as conducts special workshops on women welfare.

She began her journey in the field of health and wellness after graduating in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from an eminent university in India. After which she continued to enhance her knowledge through Ayurvedic research and further studies. Her passion for natural herbs and their medical utilities finally led her to study yoga and naturopathy in greater depth.

She is a well-known writer and her work is published in several leading health magazines. She also continues to participate in several radio talk shows to give advice on how to cure various health issues and improve lifestyle and sheds light on importance of Ayurveda.

Her belief is that true health transcends beyond the physical body and reflects one’s mental agility and spiritual wellbeing – something that can only be achieved through yoga.

Yoga Style: Yoga is universal and has no language we as human beings have made the things fashionable and stylish. So is yoga now a days with lot of styles and trends to practice but for me I make my own style which enlists the group of asanas that are with the stability of hatha and with the flow of ashtanga and the alignments of iyengar. The poses are the same dogs, cats, cow and camel but the important thing for me is to hold the pose in correct alignment according to the requirement and to stabilise the pose for my core strength and use it aptly to match with the  day to day needs of wear and tear of the body. So a universal style to stay fit and healthy.

Programs I teach at Siddhi Yoga: I teach yoga anatomy and physiology for the 200 and 300hrs along with Ayurveda. Talking in depth about the role of the body to work with mind and to know about oneself from inside and outside looking at the musculo-skeletal system till the gland and hormones where the chakras work.

The detail explanation of how body is working in yoga and the therapeutic aspects in relation with the body and mind along with knowledge of common injuries and its prevention.

Relationship of yoga with an old Indian science Ayurveda, how is the body related with it and how does the vata , pitta kapha work in yoga is talked in detail.

Favorite yoga pose: Whatever we do in this world there are always likes and dislikes. My favourite yoga poses that i love to do daily and tend to keep them in my list for daily practice are:

Chair pose, uttanasana, warrior I,II,III,IV,V, trikonasana, paschimottnasana,  butterfly pose, baddhakonasana, sputa baddhakonasana, camel, locust, ardha chndrasana and prasarita padottanasana.

They are my favourites as it helps me open up, build strength and relaxes me as I work in flow with the standing and sitting series.

My favorite place in the world: It is my parents house where I get immense peace and support mentally and spiritually as its located in the Himalayas with a  natural beauty of the dancing clouds on the mountains in monsoon, snow covered in winters and with a colourful carpet of bright flowers in the spring. I love mountains  green, pure and fresh.

I spent a month in a Yoga Teacher Training in Mc Leod, Dharamsala. Doctor Amrita Sharma was our anatomy teacher. I found her classes to be very thorough. She´s serious and straight forward, I think because she has acquired her knowledge through effort and study. She revealed herself as a loving and caring person when visiting me, because I had asked for her ayurvedic skills. She immediately understood my needs and type and since that day she has been a reference for me in health issues. I often turn to her for advice for myself and my yoga students and I´m very thankful for what I´ve learnt from her.

We found Dr Amrita’s classes very informative. She went into great detail on the anotimical structure of the body and related this back to yoga postures we had learnt. By the end of the course we had a comprehensive understanding on which yoga postures may be beneficial for people with different injuries, spinal abnormalities etc. Dr Amrita is highly approachable making her students feel like family. She takes pride in educating her students not only in her subject material but also the Indian culture.

I recently completed a yoga course will Siddhi Yoga which included the study of anatomy presented by Doctor Amrita Sharma.

Having never studied anatomy before, I didn’t know what to expect. But I soon learnt so much about the human body, it’s movements and functions because of the easy explanation and description by Doctor Amrita.

Along with her graphic presentation and knowledge of anatomy, myself and the rest of the class were soon learning why a solid understanding of anatomy can be such a great benefit  when practicing or teaching yoga.

Thanks to Doctor Amrita, I now have a better understanding of the human body which has improved my yoga and my life.

I have been a spine doctor for 20 years, but I absolutely loved taking classes with Dr Amrita Sharma. Her anatomy classes were a great refresher course for me. She made it very easy to understand and very logical. She infused each class with her wisdom. Her vast knowledge of ayurveda made her classes very useful for applying changes that make a difference in the quality of life.

Since I am American, I really appreciated her explanations of things involving Hindu culture. Dr Amrita Sharma was instrumental in my deeper understanding of yoga and the body. She delivers her message with warmth, wisdom and ease. She has a beautiful heart, a fantastic memory and is a great communicator. I highly recommend her as a doctor and a teacher. I am grateful for her influence in my life.

Before I came to attend this Yoga Teacher Training Course, I did not have the knowledge of anatomy and never imagined that this was so important to the practice and teaching of yoga. You were so amazing and really professional in teaching us anatomy, where I gained sound knowledge of the human body, the skeletal system, the muscular system, the respiratory system, the circulatory & cardiovascular systems, etc. More importantly you are very experienced and practical in integrating the anatomy into yoga practice and making us understand how the body responds to the various yoga poses. I really appreciate it very much and would like to express my sincere thanks to your passion and kindness throughout the whole duration of the course. I wish you all the best and last but not least I like your chanting ……..Shanti, Shanti, Shanti-hi!

I first met Dr Amrita Sharma at a month-long Yoga Teacher Training course in Dharamshala, India in September 2015. She was in charge of teaching our group about Yoga Philosophy and Anatomy. On a daily basis, we spent 3+ hours in her company. She was always well-prepared and well-organized with her syllabus. Her knowledge in both these areas and her ability to relate it, in practical terms, to our ongoing training and needs were excellent. She was also very patient with the questions and concerns of our mostly-Western group of students — most of whom were approaching these topics for the first time. Her sense of humor helped to lighten things up when some students were getting stressed from not being able to keep up with the new concepts or practices. She was also very considerate about everyone’s general wellbeing — offering tips and suggestions for everything from how to deal with weather challenges and shopping deals to how to manage personal health issues through Ayurvedic solutions. So much so that she became a trusted confidante to a number of the women in our group. So many of us have stayed in touch even after our course and we hope to continue to do so because she was truly one of the high points of our entire learning experience. I recommend Dr Sharma highly as I know she will add immense value in whatever endeavor she takes on or contributes to. Her integrity, authenticity, and ability to brighten up any room she enters are also added bonuses.

I had the pleasure of participating in Dr. Amrita’s class, and it was an experience I know while stay with me for a lifetime. Joining her class you will first notice that she is extremely knowledgeable in all of her fields. This knowledge is then transformed into something digestible through her patient, humorous, and sincere passion to help others. We learnt things far beyond what I have ever understood before although I had heard of the subjects in the past. Dr. Amrita has a gift of sharing that is so loving and kind it is easy to understand. She is not simply standing there telling you this and that, instead she shares from experience and personal understanding. This is a women who lives by what she teaches. I finished my course feeling entirely supported mentally and physically. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Amrita, she is truly amazing. Well educated, experienced, professional, personable, sincere, humorous, and very kind. I hope one day to have the pleasure to share company with her again!
