Step 1 – Bangalore at a Glance

Here are a few critical facts about Bangalore, important things to remember, and train stations in Bangalore where you can board trains to Goa:

  • One of the main railway stations among the many in Bangalore is the Bangalore City Railway Station with a station code of SBC. This station is situated in the heart of Bangalore, in the Sevashrama area of the city.  Many Bangalore to Goa trains depart from SBC station in Bangalore.

The best way to reach SBC is to either use the Bangalore Metro (also called Namma Metro), take a ride-hailing service like Uber. The most efficient way depends on how far you stay from the SBC station. If you live in a newly developed suburb or locality, an Uber or a cab might be a quicker way of travel. However, if you live along the areas of the metro train route, namely, Cubbon Park, MG Road, Whitefield or Baiyappanahalli, the Namma Metro will turn out to be a more convenient and punctual way of travel in Bangalore, which is known for its notorious traffic snarls. The Bangalore city railway station on the metro route is where you need to de-board at, and after that take transit to the main city railway station or SBC

  • A few trains from Bangalore to Goa also depart from Yesvantpur Junction Station in Bangalore, with a station code of YPR. YPR station is located on the Bangalore-Tumkur Road in the Yesvantpur locality. This popular railway station is far less crowded than the SBC station and is credited with reducing the load on the main Bangalore City railway station.

You can reach YPR station using a ride-hailing service like Uber to reach the station directly. If you prefer to use the Namma Metro, the metro stop named Yeshwanthpur is right opposite the Yesvantpur Junction Station, with both of them connected with a skywalk from platform 6 of YPR station to the metro station..

  • An important thing to take note of and follow while boarding the Bangalore to Goa train from any of the above boarding points is to always travel with a booked and valid ticket. There are many classes of travel available on every train. It is advisable to stay away from the General Class, as this class has no designated or reserved seat associated with it.
  • Also, to ensure safe travel while traveling in a cab, local train or the Bangalore to Goa train, you must be vigilant and use maps to ensure your cab driver does not deviate from the right path. During train travel, make sure to raise the alarm for any suspicious or untoward behavior of fellow passengers.
  • If you are traveling solo, it is also advisable to take note of the phone number of a nearby police station to ensure that an SOS call can be made upon an emergency. If you have a friend who can be of help during distress, make sure to have his or her number on speed dial. You can also dial the police control room number 100 from your mobile phone.
  • For situations where quick action is needed, you can also consider keeping handy a self-defense product like Pepper Spray or a Taser to ensure you can immobilize the threat immediately and then get time to take the necessary action by calling the Police.
